Drain 3 Bedroom and Boathouse for Winter

Boathouse
Tools:
Hose
Antifreeze
Crescent wrentch
Regular and Phillips screwdriver
Water cannon (play toy for water fights)

Water heater
1)      Shut water off in the basement of the new house – this is the pipe that goes from the SouthWest corner of the new house basement out to the 3 bedroom and boathouse.  One nozel turns off both cottages. Nozel is marked
2)      You can not drain the water heaters until the power is off.  The Boathouse water heater is hard wired so you need to turn the breaker in the boathouse off (circuit breaker is in the kitchen), then tape the breaker closed so no one accidentally turns it on)
3)      Get a hose and drain the water heater

Kitchen:
1)      Open two valves on the outside, south side of the boathouse
2)      Pull the dish sprayer for the kitchen sink, unscrew the lid and get all the water out
3)      Pour 2 cups of antifreeze down the drain
4)      Open the faucet to “full on”

Bathroom:
1)      Open all faucets (bathtub and sink)
2)      Take the shower head off, if there is a  hand held, take the top off and drain it
3)      Flush toilet
4)      Use water cannon to suck all the water out of the toilet bowl and toilet tank.  Put the water in the sink.  Do this until they are completely dry
5)      Unscrew the shut off valve under the toilet, and take it out
6)      Take off hot and cold shut off valves under the sink
7)      Pour 2 cus antifreeze in toilet, toilet tank, sink and tub (2 cups each location)
BOATHOUSE IS DONE



THREE BEDROOM:
Tools:

4)      Ensure water is Shut off in the basement of the new house – this is the pipe that goes from the SouthWest corner of the new house basement out to the 3 bedroom and boathouse.  One nozel turns off both cottages. Nozel is marked
5)      Unplug water heater (in closet on East side of 3 bedroom cottage)
6)      “behind bathtub”
7)      Get a hose and drain the water heater
Kitchen:
5)      Pull the dish sprayer for the kitchen sink, unscrew the lid and get all the water out
6)      Open the faucet to “full on”
7)      Open both silcocks to drain the pipes
8)       Pour 2 cups of antifreeze down the drain

Bathroom:
9)      Open all faucets (bathtub and sink)
10)   Take the shower head off, if there is a  hand held, take the top off and drain it
11)   Flush toilet
12)   Use water cannon to suck all the water out of the toilet bowl and toilet tank.  Put the water in the sink.  Do this until they are completely dry
13)   Unscrew the shut off valve under the toilet, and take it out
14)   Take off hot and cold shut off valves under the sink
15)   Pour 2 cus antifreeze in toilet, toilet tank, sink and tub (2 cups each location)
